Our class is hatching Serama chicken eggs, the eggs were put into the incubator on Wednesday, February 25th. Today is Friday March 6th, so the eggs are 9 days old. Here is what one student journaled about what we did in class today:
"When candling an egg you look for four things (blood ring, development, movement, and blood vessels). Blood rings pretty much determine that the embryo has died. Undecided eggs should probably be checked again. If you don't take dead embryo's out they will explode and put good eggs in harm. How to tell if eggs are good is by blood vessels, movement and development. You will see blood vessels everytime, but you might not see movement every time you check, but that's okay."
